The day is a way to recognize people in the Church who use the web as a means to evangelize.
FR. JUAN ANTONIO MART?NEZ
Student, Church Social Communication
?The fundamental thing are the people behind all this.? If these
people really feel the responsibility to spread the Gospel through the
web, it can turn into a real opportunity to evangelize. The Internet is a
great way to carry this out, but the ultimate goal is Christ.?
Hundreds of priests and lay people have opted to use the web to speak about God. There are thousands of blogs and websites that focus on? faith and religion.? Father Antonio Montero has managed a website for years, publishing stories related to his diocese in Spain.

?The Church has the biggest and the best message to communicate,
and it has been doing so for the last 2000 years. The Church spreads
that message in a way that's faithful to the Gospel. One has to be open
to new technologies and new media in order to effectively reach more
people.?
Benedict XVI said that combining silence and words are essential, since journalists must first, truly listen and absorb information before communicating it to others.
That's a message priest Juan Antonio Ruiz knows all too well. Anytime he blogs, his goal is clear: To lead people to God.

?Every time I send a 'tweet,' every time I write something, I say?
'Well, Lord, may this reach as many people as possible'. As Catholic
communicators, I think silence is essential because it helps us find
ourselves. It helps us find God within us. So when you type something or
communicate something, it's not you who is saying something, but rather
God speaking through you.?
So with the power of technology now several priests and lay people are taking their message to the web, whether it's through websites, blogs or social networks. It's not an easy task, but they say, it's well worth it.
